What is Toilet Paper?

Toilet paper is a soft fabric that serves to clean private parts after using the toilet. Toilet paper is recyclable and discarded right after each use. It comes in the form of rolls and is commonly sold in supermarkets.

Toilet paper is safe for septic tanks. However, it isn’t a good idea to throw it in the toilet bowl. It tends to build up inside the pipes, causing clogging.

Usually a single sheet of toilet paper is made up of two layers. However, some high quality toilet papers use up to six different layers on each sheet. This fact provides maximum strength and durability.

People in ancient times used toilet paper. The oldest records show that it was used in China during the 6th century. However, the industrial production of toilet paper officially started during the 19th century.

Colored Toilet Paper

Colored toilet paper has no special feature that sets it apart from other types of toilet paper. In fact, the only difference from the rest is its color. In the market you can find different options that blend well with the tone of your bathroom.

Scented Toilet Paper

It uses fragrances to hide the bad smell of human feces. Scented toilet paper makes your bathroom smell fresh for longer. Some scented toilet papers also contain essential oils that help moisturize your skin.

Toilet Paper for Sensitive Skin

It doesn’t contain fragrances, dyes or any other added substances. Also, it doesn’t contain chlorine and other harsh chemicals that can cause skin irritation. Usually, toilet paper for sensitive skin uses multiple layers for superior softness and strength.

Toilet Paper for Camping

This type of toilet paper is the best for RVs. Toilet paper for camping dissolves easily when mixed with water, so it won’t cause clogging.

Bamboo Toilet Paper

It’s made with a paste obtained from bamboo crushing. Bamboo toilet paper has a much silkier texture than ordinary toilet paper. Bamboo toilet paper is also hypoallergenic and doesn’t contain chlorine and other harsh chemicals.

Although it offers much more advantages compared to common toilet paper, it’s also more expensive. So it isn’t too popular among consumers.

Toilet Paper without Bleach

Toilet paper without bleach doesn’t contain chlorine and has a brownish color. This type of toilet paper is friendly to the environment and doesn’t cause skin irritation. However, it’s slightly rougher than the common white toilet paper.

Extra Soft Toilet Paper

It uses more than 3 layers on each sheet to provide superior softness and strength. Extra soft toilet also contains other substances such as fragrances and natural oils. Therefore, it provides a more comfortable experience.

3-Ply Toilet Paper

3-Ply toilet paper uses 3 layers on each sheet. This fact makes it much more absorbent and resistant. So, you can also use it to dry damp surfaces or to clean. 3-Ply toilet paper is one of the most popular products on the market, after its 2-ply counterpart.

2-Ply Toilet Paper

It appeared during the 1950s decade. It was first introduced as a much more durable and resistant alternative than the 1-ply toilet papers. However, there are currently 1-ply alternatives that are much thicker and more absorbent.

1-Ply Toilet Paper

It uses a single layer on each sheet. This kind of toilet paper is much better for septic tanks because it degrades much faster in contact with water. However, it isn’t good to throw toilet paper sheets on the toilet bowl so as not to obstruct the pipes.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are more types of toilet paper than you imagined. Each with its own pros and cons. Certainly, you can always find an option that suits your requirements and budget. Next time you buy toilet paper at the grocery store, consider all of the available options. Perhaps you’ll find a more suitable product for your skin and with a better fragrance.
